Scott is the Chief Investment Officer of Dynasty Financial Partners, a rapidly growing outsourcing provider of integrated research, technology, and practice management solutions to RIAs and brokerage teams making the move to independence. Scott currently serves more than 40 firms that collectively advise on more than $20 billion in assets.
Dynasty Financial Partners have been providing investment and wealth management advice to HNW and UHNW families and their advisors for more than 25 years. In 1998 Scott joined a $350 million RIA (Lydian Wealth Management) that grew to $8 billion over the next ten years. Lydian was sold to City National Bank in 2007, and became Convergent Wealth Advisors (now Pathstone Federal Street).
Along the way Scott started another business, Fortigent, where he was a co-founder and Chief Investment Officer. Fortigent was a high-end provider of outsourced research, technology, and practice management solutions to RIAs and Banks. Scott served more than 90 firms that collectively advised on more than $70 billion in assets. Fortigent was sold to LPL Financial in 2012. The firms Scott has been associated with have been nationally recognized on multiple occasions:
- 2004: Lydian Wealth Management was named “Advisory Firm of the Year” by the Private Asset Management newsletter;
- 2014: Fortigent was named “Client Investment Platform of the Year” by the Family Wealth Report;
- 2016: Dynasty Financial Partners was named the “Outsourced Chief Investment Officer Platform of the Year” by the Private Asset Management newsletter; and
- 2017: Dynasty Financial Partners was awarded “Best Investment Platform – Client Service” by the Private Asset Management newsletter.
Scott has also received numerous writing awards, most recently the 2016 Stephen L. Kessler Writing Award from IMCA, for my article “Managing Client Relationships in a Goals-Based Framework”, which was published in the IMCA Investments & Wealth Monitor.
Kevin Cooper has over 20 years of experience in business valuation and forecasting for Fortune 500 companies Hewlett-Packard and Oracle, as well as several smaller firms, including a privately held boutique investment banking firm. His experience centers on understanding micro and macro business risks and how they impact business cash flow and create market share shifts. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University’s, Leavey School of Business (MBA) and is currently an adjunct professor within William Jessup University’s School of Business.
He is a single dad of two great kids and in his spare time works with local charities- such as Shoulder to Shoulder (helping fatherless boys) and the Boy Scouts.
