At Towerpoint Wealth, we believe that some of the most important investments don't show up on a balance sheet.
They show up in conversations, mentorship, and opportunities to help the next generation discover what's possible.
Recently, Towerpoint Wealth welcomed members of the UC Davis Career Discovery Group to our Sacramento headquarters for an immersive introduction to the world of wealth management. The visit gave students a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to serve clients as fiduciaries and the many career paths available within the financial planning profession.
Leading the discussion was Towerpoint Wealth Founder and President Joseph Eschleman, who was joined by Associate Wealth Advisor Megan Miller, CFP®, and Director of Tax & Financial Planning Steve Pitchford, CPA, CFP®. Together, they shared their professional journeys, discussed the responsibilities that come with advising clients, and answered students' questions about careers in financial services.
What UC Davis Students Learned
For many students, the visit provided their first real exposure to the wealth management industry.
"I know my students really appreciated getting to talk to everyone and learn more," said Stephanie Gaston, advisor for the UC Davis Career Discovery Group.
Throughout the morning, students learned that wealth management is about much more than investments and market performance. The Towerpoint team emphasized the importance of building trusted relationships, understanding clients' goals, coordinating tax and financial planning strategies, and acting in clients' best interests as fiduciaries.
Joseph Eschleman spoke candidly about his own career path and the lessons he has learned while building Towerpoint Wealth into one of the Sacramento region's leading independent advisory firms. Students were encouraged to think broadly about their future careers and to remain curious as they explore opportunities in business, finance, accounting, and financial planning.
The impact of those conversations was evident in the feedback received after the visit.
"I truly appreciated the opportunity to learn more about your career path and your advice regarding the skills and opportunities available in this field," wrote UC Davis student Hannah Baizabal Lemus in a follow-up message to Eschleman. "Our conversation was very valuable to me, and I gained many insights from the experience."
We Loved Having UC Davis
For Towerpoint Wealth, hosting students is an extension of the firm's commitment to education and community engagement. While helping clients pursue their financial goals remains at the heart of what we do, supporting future professionals is equally important.
As fiduciaries, we understand the value of long-term thinking. The same mindset that helps clients plan for their futures also inspires us to invest in future leaders.
"We are hopeful that the future of wealth management is in good hands," said Eschleman. "The students who visited our office were thoughtful, engaged, and eager to learn. Their curiosity and professionalism left a lasting impression on our entire team."
Towerpoint Wealth would like to thank Stephanie Gaston and the UC Davis Career Discovery Group for spending time with us and allowing us to share our experiences. We look forward to continuing to support educational opportunities that help students explore careers, develop professional skills, and discover their potential.
Because investing isn't just about returns, dividends, or portfolios.
Sometimes, the most meaningful investment is in the people who will shape the future.
